The EcoFresh Energy Recovery Wheel (also known as an Enthalpy Recovery Wheel or Energy Recovery Rotor) is designed to recover both sensible heat and latent energy from exhaust air, significantly improving indoor air quality (IAQ), humidity control, and HVAC energy efficiency.
By pre-conditioning incoming outdoor air, EcoFresh enables higher fresh air intake at a much lower energy cost, helping buildings meet ventilation standards while reducing overall HVAC loads.
All DRI energy recovery wheels are fully certified, with certifications from Eurovent and the AHRI program available. Certification details can be accessed through our website, catalogues, or provided upon request
EcoFresh wheels are available in a wide range of diameters and rotor depths, supplied as complete rotor-and-cassette assemblies.
In a typical HVAC installation, the EcoFresh wheel is mounted within an air handling unit and divided into two semi-circular sections.
As the wheel turns, the aluminum substrate absorbs sensible heat from the warmer air stream and transfers it to the cooler stream. Simultaneously, the desiccant-coated surface adsorbs moisture from the air with higher humidity and releases it into the drier air stream, enabling latent heat transfer.
EcoFresh wheels use Molecular Sieve 3Å desiccant (EcoSorb™ 300) coated on an aluminum substrate. This selectively transfers water vapor molecules while effectively blocking contaminants, ensuring near-zero cross-contamination between air streams.
